What to expect when playing U.S. college golf:
Fall Semester
- The Fall semester is the off-season for golf.
- You can expect to practice a maximum of 8 hours a week during the Fall.
- Your schedule will feature individual or small group practices.
- Weight lifting and conditioning will be required in addition to technical training in preparation for the upcoming spring season.
Spring Semester
- Golf is a Spring sport, played in the second half of the U.S. school year.
- Tournaments are usually between early-January and late-May.
- You can expect approximately 10-15 golf tournaments in an average season.
- Golf utilises a hybrid stroke-play, match-play format for team golf
Women’s golf programs all over the U.S. participate under all governing bodies and divisions.
NCAA

The NCAA endorses three divisions of women’s collegiate golf.
Division I
- Currently sponsor 267 women’s college golf programs
- 6 full golf scholarships are available per women’s college golf team
Division II
- Currently sponsor 194 women’s college golf programs
- 5.4 full golf scholarships available per women’s college golf team
Division III
- Currently sponsor 228 women’s college golf programs
- Financial aid is available but is not considered golf scholarship
NJCAA

- Currently sponsor 66 women’s college golf programs across three divisions
- 8 full golf scholarships available per women’s college golf team
NAIA

The NAIA endorses one division of women’s collegiate golf.

- 5 full golf scholarships available per women’s college golf team
